Listed
on the National Register of Historic Places for its contribution
to the cultural foundations of America, The Lamport House in
rural Hecla, South Dakota, offers a relaxing, charming, and
informal atmosphere for guests. Having discovered the
beautiful Lamport House, our new friends return again and again.
We welcome those who are just passing through, vacationers,
adventurers, get-away weekenders, nature enthusiasts, and avid
hunters!
The rural Hecla area
provides a glorious haven near GREAT hunting spots for deer,
pheasant, waterfowl, wild turkey, fishing, etc, and is within
just a few miles from the infamous Sand Lake Refuge, a popular
spot of President Teddy Roosevelt's past hunting trips.
The Hecla area
also features a myriad of walk-in areas, dedicated for hunting
and trapping. In addition to the walk-in areas, The
Lamport House has access to thousands of paid guided, un-guided,
and semi-guided hunting land.
Another asset The
Lamport House possesses is an area for cleaning birds and a
place where dog kennels can be kept. And, only a block off
of Hecla's Main Street, it is within walking distance to local
business such as
Jo's Schoolhouse Cafe
(featuring delicious and comforting home-cooked meals - with
extended hours for hunting season),
Frohling's Meat Market
(hunters - this is a great place for processing your animals),
the local pub
"The Hideout",
the local bank, and post office.
Bearing all of the
necessities without all of the hustle and bustle of big city
living, reserve some time at The Lamport House Guest Inn and
revel in a retreat!
